ReplyDeleteEdna's desire was to be independent showed by her act of swimming alone for the first time; before Robert left for Mexico, he flirted with Edna, made her return to New Orleans and ignored her responsibilities.

Being constantly critised by her husband , for not being a good mother , Edna realises that the family/household life is not for her, and by having affairs with Robert who later leaves for Mexico, she isolates herself from her family, refusing to take care of her responsibilities.
ReplyDeleteEdna, a Victorian woman and not a perfect mother who married to a Creole, starts to change her inner world, from reserved to free, after she meets Robert, with whom she is going to have an affair later and because of whom Edna feels despondent when he takes a sudden leave to Mexico.
ReplyDeleteFirstly,Edna was expected to be a good mother woman, and has no right in family, she has affair with Mr Robert, she swims in in the late and feel free and then she decides to be independent, she refuse to perform her responsibility, but at last, Robert leave her for Mexico.
ReplyDeleteAfter 6 years of marriage, Edna thinks differently, and always wants something new, awakened instead of spending her life for her family then she meets and falls in love with Robert who left her to go to Mexico when they are in good progression so she is being more imprudent in her responsibilities.
